How to print a SA302 Tax Calculation from HMRC

Since the death of Self-Certification mortgages lenders now require all self-employed applicants to provide proof of their earned income. Each lender has a different criteria when it comes to what figures they will use to calculate your affordable loan amount and your broker will be able to advise on this for you.

The easiest way to prove self-employed income is to provide lenders with a SA302 Tax Calculation and the corresponding Tax Year Overviews. The HMRC will provide you with these documents either by post, fax (please note they blank out an important code when faxed so best to avoid) or you can download electronic copies online.

We have put together a handy step-by-step guide on how to get access to these documents:

To print a Tax Calculation To print a Tax Calculation

1.Follow the link ‘tax return options’.
2.Choose the year from the drop down menu.
3.Follow the link ‘view calculation’.
4.Follow the link ‘view and print your calculation’.
5.Follow the link ‘print your full calculation’ – you can currently view and print up to 2 years but this will increase to 3 years from April 2015 and 4 years from April 2016.

To print a Tax Year Overview

1.Follow the link ‘view account’.
2.Follow the link ‘tax years’.
3.Choose the year from the drop down menu and click the ‘Go’ button
4.Follow the link ‘print your Tax Year Overview’

Please note: You must wait 72 hours after fully submitting your return until you can print your documents.
